Simon's Story
"The Team IMPACT experience has fundamentally changed us. It's like a switch has been flipped, and we find ourselves in a new space filled with love, strength, and gratitude. Simon was given a fifty percent chance of survival, and he was the only survivor among seven infants put on dialysis in September 2013. These are harsh realities, but they have motivated us to pursue happiness in every way possible. Providing these children with moments of celebration and acknowledging them for who they are instills a unique sense of confidence that continues to grow. They become part of something much larger as they meet their team, engage in sports, and interact with other students. The energy and excitement are truly indescribable.
Simon introduces himself as a Team IMPACT kid and a Husky. When he sees his team and hockey, there’s a rise in confidence. Simon cherishes every moment, from meeting his team in the locker room for the always meaningful fist-pumps to running up to the doghouse as he prepares to sing the national anthem. I see him singing, cheering, screaming LET’S GO, HUSKIES! I’m a mom who still never would have thought, always left thinking and feeling, wow, that’s my baby, and he’s happy—surrounded by love."
