At Team IMPACT, we understand the importance of supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of children facing serious illness or disability. We provide an experience for children and families to expand their support systems and develop meaningful bonds with a local college sports team, grow confidence, and experience the simple joy of being a kid.

HOW IT WORKS

Team IMPACT is built on a clinical foundation with a goal to create an environment of camaraderie and a sense of belonging for children and families, encouraging resilience, empowerment, socialization, and health promotion. From the intake call through to graduation, each match will have a team of child life specialists and social workers helping guide the relationship.

Our IMPACT

Children and teams are matched after completing a comprehensive assessment and orientation process with an Intake Coordinator and Match-Up Specialist. Throughout our program, Case Managers work with each family to identify goals for their child’s participation and provide guidance and coaching to the team to make these goals a reality. Team IMPACT isn’t a one-day photo op or meet-and-greet. Our matches become true members of the team.

Case Managers — Masters-level social workers (MSWs) or certified child life specialists (CCLSs) — provide two years of active and consistent support, supervision, and assistance to all participants.

“I’ve witnessed so many positive outcomes for families connected with Team IMPACT, and the word that encompasses them all is flourishing. Patients connected with this organization become involved in something that transcends their treatment journey. They exhibit an increased sense of inclusion, they build an identity outside of illness, and they gain an exponential support system. I often describe Team IMPACT as an additional sphere of support for an entire family– a sphere that extends beyond their relatives or medical team. With Team IMPACT, a child or teen feels chosen, and their family becomes wrapped in unconditional connectedness, joy, guidance, and strength. I also like to share that Team IMPACT remains grounded in evidenced-based practices, so the interactions and activities offered to patients can provide maximum outcomes!”
