FUNDING FUTURE RESEARCH AND HOSPITAL PARTNERSHIPS

As Team IMPACT’s reputation as clinically-informed, therapeutic program grows, the next step for us is to establish strategic, elevated hospital partnerships to showcase our program as a true extension of care outside the hospital.

Partnering with a nationally-renowned cancer center is essential for our future success, especially as we begin to invest in research that showcases the therapeutic benefit of team-based, psychosocial care. Many cancer survivorship programs have already recognized the value of psychosocial interventions as they pertain to a patient’s quality of life post treatment. An important next step will be funding a collaborative referral program and future research studies with an NCI Certified cancer program utilizing Team IMPACT data.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AROUND PEDIATRIC ONCOLOGY

The x-factor that sets Team IMPACT apart from other nonprofits is the people on our team. We have made a concerted effort to hire the very best clinicians from hospitals around the country to administer our program. Our Director of Clinical Services Rachel Rogovin is the newest President-elect of the Association of Pediatric Oncology Social Workers (APOSW), and numerous case managers, match up specialists, and program directors came to Team IMPACT from renowned cancer centers. In Philadelphia alone, our Regional Director of Programs Elise Keels and our Mid-Atlantic Match-Up Specialist Grace Lerro came to Team IMPACT from the CHOP Cancer Center and Alex’s Lemonade Stand respectively, and our Executive Director Josh Walker was the Director of Development for the CHOP Brain Tumor Program. By investing more heavily in cancer-specific professional development, Team IMPACT will be able to further enhance the customized therapeutic care that they help teams deliver to children diagnosed with all forms of cancer.

ENHANCED SPECIALIZED TRAINING FOR ATHLETIC TEAMS

At Team IMPACT our college athletes become an extension of a child's healthcare team. Additional cancer-focused funding for our case managers and match-up specialists will help us customize the training we give them at the start of a match. Different types of cancers present unique challenges to each patient. By equipping our staff with the most up to date knowledge and clinical protocols for patients with pediatric cancer, we will be able to work with each team to provide a precision-medicine-like, psychosocial approach to each child with cancer in our program. The results will be life-changing.

PALLIATIVE CARE IN CANCER

At Team IMPACT, we are committed to offering our program to children in all stages of their medical journey. This includes patients in palliative care or with a terminal diagnosis. Although not every team is equipped to handle a pediatric patient in an end-of-life situation, those that have partnered with us have provided some of the most important therapeutic supports our program can offer – the reassurance to a child that they are not alone and the comfort to a family in knowing their child will not be forgotten. Excellence in palliative care is something that must be constantly studied, and our expert case managers are prepared to work with children regardless of their diagnosis. Additional training will ensure that we can provide the optimal experience for families during these difficult times.

OUTREACH SPECIFIC TO CANCER POPULATIONS

With the launch of Team IMPACT’s first ever brand campaign in the fall of 2022, we will begin sharing our stories with the nation. Part of this new brand strategy will be to target health care systems and disease-specific groups so that all children and families who need Team IMPACT will know that there is a team waiting for them. Our goal is to promote Team IMPACT heavily within the pediatric cancer world, starting in Philadelphia and the Mid-Atlantic.
