SPOTLIGHT ON
Kyler & Georgia Football:
2023 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Kyler, 8, matched with Georgia Football, had an incredible first season with the bulldogs. After becoming fast friends with two tight-ends on the team, with the help of generous donors, Team IMPACT sent Kyler to the Rose Bowl and National Championship to support his teammates.
BUILDING A NATIONAL BRAND
ALL IN. ALL TOGETHER.
Our rallying cry. What we stand behind. And how we move forward to meet our goals together. The “all” in “All in. All together.” can mean so many things to so many people. But for the kids of Team IMPACT, it means everything. What’s Team IMPACT ALL about? Joy. Hope. Inspiration. This is just the start, but we are so lucky to have you by our sides as we work tirelessly to meet new families, student-athletes and donors who want to engage with Team IMPACT. Since matching our first child back in 2011, we’ve come to understand that each match story represents health and progress, with a ripple effect that touches the matched child’s family, the student-athletes, and their communities.
THE CHALLENGE
How do we reach a broader audience and start to garner bigger and better attention in a saturated market? How do we differentiate ourselves?
THE SOLUTION
By launching our first ever scalable, foundational plan to grow brand awareness in our key markets, we’ve been able to reach so many more referrers, candidate families, and members of the healthcare community that will continue to inform future endeavors.
WE ARE BRINGING A NEW AUDIENCE TO TEAM IMPACT.
Since the launch of the brand campaign, TeamIMPACT.org has had 109,510 visits generated from 94,820 visitors. 90% of these were new visitors to Team IMPACT, helping us directly reach our goal of generating new brand awareness.
WE ARE INFLUENCING PROGRAM APPLICATIONS.
While not a direct goal of the brand campaign, increased awareness is naturally bringing increased engagement. Since the launch of the campaign, there have been 130 family applications submitted, compared with 85 during the same time period last year, a 53% increase.
Monthly referrals have also increased by 37% during the campaign, generating 185 of our 755 referrals YTD.
WE ARE GETTING THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME.
The new website launch in coordination with the paid campaign is creating a better user experience for new and returning visitors. While visits to the Family Application page are down slightly Year over Year (688 vs. 826), on-page conversion rate has increased from 10% to 19%.

OUR PILOT PROGRAMS
ACUITY SCALE
This quality improvement project assesses the efficacy and feasibility of scoring each match based on their level of acuity and the intensity of support needed. The goal of this pilot is to evaluate how the acuity of individual matches and the mix of cases affects overall caseload and Case Manager capacity.
THROUGHOUT 2022, WE'VE continueD to look at ways to best assess the acuity of each match in order to determine the level and intensity of support needed. Providing the “just right” level of clinical support for each match is critical in balancing caseload and staffing capacity.
PERSONALIZED PLAYBOOK
Using input from hospital care teams, we identify goals that are tailored to each child and family's medical journey and social-emotional development. We then work with each team to create a playbook of engaging activities to help participants achieve their goals. The feedback from medical partners, families, and our Case Managers has been overwhelmingly positive, and we believe that individualized playbooks will continue to be an effective tool for every match.
Since February 2021, we've enrolled 60 matches in this pilot. Early data shows that this is an effective tool for matches, with pilot matches scoring on average almost one point higher than the overall quality score for our entire program.
CONTINUITY OF CARE
Building stronger, more collaborative relationships with community providers will allow Team IMPACT to increase referrals and improve continuity of care across all settings. This pilot evaluates the feasibility and efficacy of routine communication with medical/community providers to align social-emotional goals and improve continuity of care.
WE SUPPORT OUR FAMILIES AND HOSPITAL PARTNERS IN ADVANCING HEALTH EQUITY AND COMBATTING RISING DISPARITY IN HEALTH OUTCOMES RELATED TO RACE, ETHNICITY, AND FAMILY INCOME.
WE DO THIS THROUGH THE FOUR PILLARS OF OUR DEI WORK.
↴
We work to remove every barrier possible to our program so that families of every background and income level can be in the program without feeling burdened by the experience. One in five Team IMPACT families report an income below $25,000, and this is often before the full financial impact and toxicity of their child’s diagnosis sets in. In 2022, Team IMPACT hired our first bilingual Case Manager—another huge step toward increasing access to our program and serving vastly more children who could benefit from the power of team. We’re building our program for recruiting, onboarding, matching, and managing relationships for solely Spanish-speaking families. The reception from our hospital partners has been extremely positive, as we can now serve so many more of their patients.
We look at our program quality and program outcomes overall and by every demographic group including race/ethnicity and family income. Our goal is to ensure our program is being delivered equitably and with cultural responsiveness so that every family has the chance to have a great experience and achieve the same outcomes. In 2022, thanks to our talented Case Managers and student-athletes, our data shows that we have achieved that equity and every demographic group and income level is above our goal for program quality and there is no correlation between family background and outcomes.
Within our staff, leadership at every level and our program we strive to be representative of the populations we serve. Because Team IMPACT works everywhere in the country and serves so many different diagnoses, some of which primarily effect families of one race/ethnicity (like Cystic Fibrosis and Sickle Cell Disease) we’ve set our benchmark as matching the demographics of the pediatric cancer diagnosis community (our largest diagnosis group in the program) and the NCAA student-athlete population. In 2022 we’ve hit that benchmark within our program, with nearly 40% of families that have signed up for the program this year identifying as Black, Hispanic/Latino or Other.
We’re helping to develop a new generation of leaders that center empathy, inclusion, and civic-mindedness in everything they do—on the field, on campus, in their communities, and as they build their careers. This year’s fellowship class was our largest and most diverse by race/ethnicity and gender in our history. At our 3-day intensive fellowship summit in Boston and ongoing virtually throughout the year our fellows have been trained on a variety of topics to foster inclusivity in their leadership styles.
